The Ministry of Defense announced the capture of the American M113 armored personnel carrier
Russian servicemen destroyed a detachment of infantry fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also captured an American-made M113 armored personnel carrier. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Russian paratroopers discovered groups of infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during unsuccessful preparations for offensive operations. These units were destroyed by the armored group of the parachute regiment with the help of airborne combat vehicles BMD-4M, — The report said.
The ministry also said that the crews of Russian T-90 tanks suppressed three units of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including an American-made M113 armored personnel carrier, which “was evacuated” with the front as a trophy.
The M113 armored personnel carrier was developed in the USA in 1959, put into mass production in 1960 and was produced until 2007. In total, more than 80 thousand cars of this class were produced.
Western countries, including the US and the EU, began to increase arms supplies to Ukraine against the background of the Russian military operation. The delivery of M113 armored personnel carriers became known in early May. At that time, up to 200 such armored vehicles were transferred to Ukraine.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the transfer of weapons by Western countries to Ukraine. The Foreign Ministry warned that convoys with foreign weapons would become targets for the Russian army, and presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries would not prevent Russia from achieving the declared goals of the military operation.

Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24th. In response, Ukraine introduced martial law and announced mobilization. On September 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a regrouping of troops: the Izyum-Balakleya group was transferred to the DPR. The department explained that this would allow to fulfill the originally stated tasks of the special operation.
