During a message to the people of Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proclaimed a new economic course that involves moving away from excessive state intervention.

According to him, the basic goal remains unchanged economic policy – an inclusive and qualitative increase in the well-being of citizens of Kazakhstan.

“In the new course, the priorities of the economic course will be: the development of competition (providing equal opportunities for everyone) and the stimulation of private entrepreneurial initiative (a move away from excessive state intervention in the economy and state capitalism),” Tokayev said.

He specified that one of the main factors would be a fair distribution of national income. Among other things, the head of Kazakhstan proposed to introduce a tax on luxury, which should not affect the middle class.
