The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced the deadline from Zelensky on joining the European Union
Kuleba said that Zelensky set a deadline for Ukraine's accession to the EU. If you publicly name the deadlines for Kyiv's internal deadline for joining the EU, this will lead to a slowdown in progress, Kuleba believes. He is sure that this way you can “scare someone in the EU.” Macron assumed that this process would take decades announced the deadline from Zelensky on joining the European Union” />

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has set an “internal deadline” for the country's accession to the European Union, however, the public announcement by Kyiv of the designated dates would harm the progress in this matter. This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba in an interview with Forbes.ua.
“If we announce a deadline, you can scare someone in the EU so much that he will deliberately slow down everything related to the European integration of Ukraine” ;,— the minister explained.
Kuleba noted that Ukraine's accession to the European Union in this case “will still be slowed down”; even if the country meets the required standards by 120%. According to him, Kyiv intends to work on this issue “calmly, reasonably and for results.”
At the end of June, Ukraine, together with Moldova, was given the status of a candidate member of the European Union, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, then called this decision “historic”. A week before, the European Commission issued a corresponding recommendation to Ukraine, they considered that Kyiv had complied with 70% of the recommendations of Brussels, the necessary laws were adopted, in particular & mdash; to fight the oligarchs. At the same time, the EC warned about the possibility of revoking the status if Ukraine's reforms are hampered.
“Ukrainians are ready to die for the European perspective. We want them to live with us in the European dream,— stated in the message of the European Commission in the Telegram.
Discussion of this decision has previously caused discussions among the leaders of the European Union. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte pointed out that there is no fast-track process for EU accession, his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenkovic stressed: “no one entered the European Union overnight.” French President Emmanuel Macron admitted that Ukraine's accession to the EU “may take many years and even several decades.” “Ukraine, thanks to its struggle and its courage, is already the heart of our union,” — he added at the same time.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered that the status of a candidate was given to Ukraine based on the political situation, and not on the basis of strict criteria in the field of combating corruption or the rule of law. “The European Union, in fact, confirmed that it continues the line of active geopolitical development of the CIS space,” — wrote the representative of the Ministry Maria Zakharova. The head of the department, Sergei Lavrov, considers Ukraine's status as part of the “geopolitical gambit”. In his opinion, Ukraine and Moldova have become “eternal candidates”.
At the same time, Russia has never opposed Ukraine's accession to the EU, Moscow's concern only concerned the “military development” of Ukrainian territory, said Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also criticized Kyiv's “civilizational choice” thesis. “What kind of civilizational choice is this, sorry for the bad manners? They dug money from the Ukrainian people, hid it in banks and want to protect it, — Putin thinks.
