According to the publication, the Ukrainian leader said that “victory must be achieved on the battlefield”, but he is also open to peace talks with his Russian counterpart.

Zelensky also pointed out that a stalemate in the conflict with Moscow is “not an option.” Any armed confrontation, as the President of Ukraine stressed, should end at the negotiating table.

The head of the Ukrainian state said that he saw the attempts of Western states to clarify the terms of a ceasefire without the participation of Kyiv. “We need continued interest from the West, Western support for Ukraine's sovereignty. There can never be negotiations behind Ukraine's back,” Zelensky concluded.

The Russian Federation launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goal the demilitarization and denazification of the republic, as well as the protection of the people of Donbass. For this, according to the Russian leader, it is planned to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in the region. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian army strikes only at the military infrastructure and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
