President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Joe Biden will have a telephone conversation on January 2 after 22:00 (23:00 Moscow time ). This was announced by the press secretary of the Ukrainian president Sergei Nikiforov on Facebook.
“ Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden will have a telephone conversation today after 22:00 Kyiv time, '' & mdash; wrote Nikiforov.
The day before, Zelensky said that he was going to discuss with Biden at least three topics & mdash; US support for Ukraine's sovereignty, “ building up the number of Russia's military '' on the border with Ukraine and diplomatic methods of solving the problem in the region.
The conversation between Biden and Zelensky will take place a few days after the talks between the American and Russian presidents, which took place on the night of December 30-31. The main topics of those talks were security guarantees and the situation in Ukraine.
Biden made it clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin that Washington would take “ drastic measures '' if Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine. Putin, in turn, said that if the West introduced “ unprecedented sanctions '' against Russia, the result would be a complete rupture of relations between the two countries.
